Milestones & Sprints on Milestone Panel

Milestones Panel

The Milestones Panel is an optional panel displayed above the team timelines in the Planner. It provides a high-level view of important project dates and events, helping teams keep track of upcoming releases, deadlines, deliveries, demos, sprints, and other key milestones.

Milestones provide important context while planning work and make it easier to determine whether projects are progressing according to schedule.

By default, the Milestones Panel is hidden. To display it, click the Flag icon in the right-side toolbar.

Simply assign a Due Date to an issue and it will appear on the Milestones Panel.

To enable this feature:

Configuration → Timeline Panel → Display Issues on Milestones Panel based on Due Date

You can also highlight approaching deadlines by configuring a warning period.

Go to:

Configuration → Timeline Panel → Deadline Warning Period

During the configured period before the deadline, the issue title is displayed in bold.

Due Date behavior

Due Date differs from Planned End Date

The Due Date represents when the work should ideally be completed.

The Planned End Date represents the actual scheduled finish.

In this case:

  • Due Date is displayed as the milestone

  • Planned End Date continues to control scheduling

Due Date equals Planned End Date

If both dates are identical, the Due Date is used as the Planned End Date.

Display Jira Releases (Fix Versions)

ActivityTimeline can automatically display Jira Fix Versions as release milestones.

To enable this:

  1. Click the Cog icon on the Milestones Panel.

  2. Select the projects whose Fix Versions should be displayed.

Clicking the link icon opens the corresponding Jira Release page.

Milestone Filters

By default, the Milestones Panel respects the currently selected team.

When the filter is On:

  • Only milestones and Jira issues relevant to the selected team are displayed.

When the filter is Off:

  • Milestones and issues assigned to users across all teams become visible.
