Where is my data stored?
ActivityTimeline Cloud
ActivityTimeline Cloud is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and uses Amazon Aurora for data storage. Customer data is stored in AWS data centers in Germany, the United States, or Australia, depending on the Jira Cloud data residency region.
By default, ActivityTimeline customer data is stored in Frankfurt, Germany. This also applies to Jira Cloud instances pinned to the EU or Germany.
If a Jira Cloud instance is pinned to another supported region, ActivityTimeline data is stored accordingly:
-
United States: Ohio, USA
-
Australia: AWS data center in Australia
AWS data centers are protected by AWS physical and infrastructure security controls and continuous monitoring.
ActivityTimeline Data Center
By default, ActivityTimeline Data Center stores its cached data locally on the server where ActivityTimeline is installed. The data is stored in the following directory:
/path/to/activitytimeline/bin/atdb
The files can only be accessed by system administrators who have access to the server file system.
ActivityTimeline can also be configured to use an external database, including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL, instead of the default local database.
You can find configuration instructions here:
